Director Vivek Athreya’s latest film, Saripodha Saanivaram, starring Nani and SJ Suryah in the lead roles, has opened strongly at the box office. Released on August 29, the film grossed over Rs 25 crore globally on its first day, showcasing its strong appeal among audiences.
This marks the second collaboration between Nani and Vivek Athreya, following the success of their previous film, Ante Sundaraneki. Saripodha Saanivaram, a blend of action and drama, has received positive reviews from critics and audiences, setting it up for a successful movie run.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the film’s first-day global collections crossed Rs 25 crore. However, it fell short of surpassing the first-day earnings of Nani’s previous blockbuster, Dussehra, which grossed Rs 38 crore globally.

Saripodha Saanivaram was released in five languages, leading to varying earnings across different regions. In Telugu, the Nani-starrer earned Rs 8.75 crore; in Tamil, it brought in Rs 24 lakh. However, the film struggled in the Malayalam market, earning only Rs 1 lakh. In the Hindi market, the film failed to attract any audience, resulting in no earnings.
Regionally, the film earned Rs 1.1 crore in Karnataka, Rs 8.5 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rs 55 lakh in Tamil Nadu, Rs 5 lakh in Kerala, and Rs 20 lakh in other states across India, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 10.4 crore. Globally, Saripodha Saanivaram has grossed Rs 19.40 crore. On Thursday, the film recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 53.54%.

In a recent interview with ANI, Nani shared his thoughts about the film. He mentioned, “It wasn’t very challenging for me because roles that are difficult are usually ones that I can’t connect with personally and require attention to every little detail.”
He said, “Suriya felt like a person like myself, so it was easy to play him. The real challenge was for director Vivek, who had to create and execute a story with so much emotional depth. But overall, I really enjoyed working on it.”
